This page explains what counts as urgent, what to do while you wait, how fast we can realistically get to you and what happens when we arrive. We would rather be honest about the limits than promise a time we cannot keep.
What counts as a pest emergency?
A pest emergency is a problem that puts people at risk, damages a business or gets worse by the hour. Most pest problems are annoying but not urgent. These are the ones that deserve a fast call:
- A wasp, hornet or yellow jacket nest beside a door, on a porch or near where children play
- Stinging insects getting inside the house, or anyone in the household with a known sting allergy
- A pest sighting in a restaurant, hotel or other business with an inspection or guests on the way
- Bed bugs found in a hotel room or a rental unit that needs to be used tonight
- A rodent seen in a kitchen or food storage area where food is prepared for customers
One ant trail, a spider in the bathtub or a single roach is a regular appointment, not an emergency. We will tell you honestly when a problem can wait for the next opening, since calling it urgent does not change the schedule.

If anyone has trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or dizziness after a sting, call 911 first. That is a medical emergency, and we are not a medical service.
What should you do right now while you wait?
Limit the contact and gather information. Both help the visit go faster.
- Stinging nests: stay a safe distance away and keep children and pets back. Do not knock down, spray or block the nest. Wasps chew another route if their entrance is closed, and sometimes it leads into the house.
- Stinging insects inside: close the door to that room, do not swat at them and watch where they enter.
- Bed bugs: do not move belongings to other rooms and skip store-bought foggers, which tend to scatter bugs.
- Rodents or roaches in a business: photograph what you see, note the time and place, and leave the area undisturbed until we arrive.
- Any pest: take a clear photo from a distance and have it ready when you call.

Our post on what to do when you find a hornet nest goes through the steps for stinging insects, and yellow jacket ground nests covers the nests in lawns.
Nest by the door? Call early
Morning calls give a same-day slot better odds, if the schedule allows. Tell us where the nest is and if anyone is allergic.

Prefer to write it down?
Calling is fastest. The form comes to the same desk, and we call you back during business hours.
Call (209) 563-1650Same day exterminator in Columbus, and when does the schedule allow it?
Same-day visits are real, and customers mention them in their reviews, but they depend on the schedule. A same-day slot depends on the schedule. It opens up when earlier jobs finish quickly, when someone cancels or when we have room in a route near you, and it does not exist when the day is full.
Several things decide the odds. Calls that arrive in the morning have more of the day left to work with. The drive from our Dunning Rd shop matters too: central Columbus is about 7 minutes away, Whitehall and Gahanna about 11, Reynoldsburg and Westerville about 15, and Dublin, Hilliard and Grove City 20 to 25. A nest beside a door is weighed differently from a routine ant visit, so say what you have when you call.
If today is not possible, we say so on the call and offer the next opening. Customers describe next-day hornet visits, and that is the usual fallback. We do not promise a window we cannot meet.

What should you tell us on the call?
The schedule is built around facts, so the faster you give them, the faster we can place you. Have these ready when you call:
- The pest, or a description if you are not sure, and a photo taken from a distance
- Exactly where it is: by a door, in a wall, in a kitchen, on a porch or in a guest room
- Whether anyone in the household has a sting allergy, and whether children or pets use that area
- Any deadline, such as an inspection date, arriving guests or a room that must be used tonight
- The street address, so we can weigh the drive from Dunning Rd
Then listen to the answer. Some calls get a same-day slot when the schedule allows. Some get the next morning. A few turn out to be routine visits, and we say so. Whatever the answer is, you leave the call knowing what happens next.
Do you take emergency pest calls on weekends or evenings?
We take calls during business hours, including Saturday. We work Monday to Thursday 8 am to 7 pm, Friday 8 am to 6 pm and Saturday 10 am to 5 pm. There is no Sunday service, so a problem found on Sunday waits until Monday morning.
| When you call | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Weekday morning | Plenty of day left, so a same-day slot is more likely when the schedule allows |
| Weekday late afternoon | Less room left. A next-morning visit is the likely offer |
| Saturday morning | A short day, so call as soon as we open |
| Saturday afternoon | May land on Monday |
| Sunday | Closed. Take photos, keep your distance and call Monday morning |
Saturday has a shorter window, so a Saturday morning call gives you better odds of a same-day visit, if the schedule allows. A Saturday afternoon call may land on Monday. If something dangerous is going on outside these hours, such as a medical reaction to stings, call 911, not us.
Urgent pest control in Columbus, Ohio: where we send people
Two kinds of urgent calls have their own pages.
Other urgent problems fit our regular service pages: bed bugs in a unit that must be used, rodents in a kitchen or garage, and routine stinging insect removal when the nest is not close to anyone. Call and describe it, and we will tell you which category it falls in and how soon we might fit it.

What happens when we arrive?
- You tell us what you saw and wherePhotos help. We confirm the pest, because a ground nest, an aerial nest and a swarm each need a different approach.
- We ask about allergies, pets and childrenAnyone with a sting allergy in the household, plus the pets and kids, changes where we work and how we do it.
- We explain the priceYou hear the price before work starts. It depends on the type of pest and how extensive it is.
- We deal with the problemEverything is applied per label directions, and the label tells you when to re-enter. For nests, we remove or treat the nest and check the entry points.
- We tell you what happens nextIf a return visit is part of the plan, we say when. You also get documentation after inspections for businesses that need records.

What does an urgent pest visit cost?
Pricing depends on the type of pest and the extent of the problem, and we explain it before work starts. A single accessible nest is not the same job as a nest in a wall void, a ground colony or a multi-room bed bug case. Reviewers call our pricing fair, with no surprise charges.
If you want to know whether a same-day or rush visit changes the cost, ask on the call. We will tell you plainly, and you decide before anyone starts work.
Urgent pest calls in Ohio: the ODA license rule, label re-entry and who to call for a reaction
Nest removal and other urgent treatments are pesticide work. Ohio requires a company that applies pesticides for hire to hold an ODA Pesticide Business License, and ODA's public business search lets you check one while you are still on the phone. Searching takes a minute and works at any hour, so do it before you agree to a visit.
Under federal label law, the product label sets where a product may be applied and when you can go back into the space. Ask for the re-entry time before the technician starts. In a dwelling with two or more units, Columbus Public Health says the owner is responsible for eliminating pests, so a tenant with an urgent problem should tell the landlord in writing as well. A sting reaction with breathing trouble goes to 911.

- Columbus Central Columbus is about 7 minutes from Dunning Rd, and Orkin ranked it No. 11 for bed bugs in 2024.
- Bexley About 9 minutes from the shop, with a median home build year of 1944 and Capital University moves.

- Hilliard A 20 to 25 minute drive between the Scioto River and Big Darby Creek, so an early call matters.
- Grove City A 20 to 25 minute drive along the I-71 corridor, where an early call matters when the schedule is tight.
Our shop is on Columbus's northeast side, which is why Columbus, Whitehall, Gahanna and Reynoldsburg are the closest drives. We also go to Westerville and farther out, and our service areas page lists where we work.
Same-Day & Emergency Pest Control: common questions
What counts as a pest emergency?
A nest by a door or near someone allergic to stings, stinging insects inside the house, a pest sighting in a restaurant or hotel, or bed bugs in a room you must use tonight. A single ant or roach is not an emergency. For breathing trouble or swelling after a sting, call 911 first.
Do you take calls on weekends?
Saturday, yes. We work Monday to Thursday 8 am to 7 pm, Friday 8 am to 6 pm and Saturday 10 am to 5 pm. We are closed on Sunday, so a Sunday problem waits until Monday morning. Calling early on Saturday gives the best chance of a same-day visit, since the Saturday window is the shortest of the week.
How fast can you get to me?
It depends on the schedule, how many urgent calls are ahead of yours and how far you are from our Dunning Rd shop. We can sometimes come the same day. If we cannot, we offer the next opening, and customers mention next-day hornet visits. We will not promise a time we cannot meet.
What should I do while I wait?
Stay away from the pest and keep children and pets back. Do not knock down, spray or seal a stinging nest. Close the door to a room with stinging insects. Skip foggers for bed bugs. Take a photo from a distance and note where and when you saw it. Have it ready when you call.
Can I ask for a same day visit, and does it cost more?
We explain the price before work starts, and it depends on the type of pest and how extensive the problem is. If you want to know whether a same-day or rush visit changes the cost, ask on the call. You will have the answer before anyone begins work.
Who do I call for a bad reaction to a sting?
Call 911. Trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, dizziness or a widespread rash after a sting needs medical care first, not pest control. Once the person is safe and the nest is still a worry, call us during business hours and tell us someone in the household is allergic.

Rob is a great find. Today was the second time he came out because I found two more yellow jacket nests. One in the ground and one at the foundation of the house. He came out the same day I called.
Great service. Super dependable. Calls right back. This time he was able to come out same day.
Had a large hornets nest in a tree in front of my home. They knew exactly what type it was with just a description and explained how they would remove the nest.
